Unity
While the Black Lives Matter movement continues to garner controversy, the intensive documentation of its events have also created a sense of unity. In the face of brutality and arrest, activists continue to organize and persist, and some organizers even call for law enforcement to come together with protesters (Cobbina et al., 2019). The work of these activists continues to convince others to not only support Black Lives Matter, but to educate themselves on how to eradicate systemic racism (Wouters, 2019).
Despite Black Lives Matter having existed for eight years, the summer of 2020 brought a major resurgence of these issues that was far more global than the movement had ever been. Footage of demonstrations can be traced to almost every continent (So Other People Would Be Also Free, 2020). Regardless of its critics, the impact of the Black Lives Matter movement has been one of unity with all humans.
